From Padua to the Stock Exchange and the world in 30 years

1980: set-up

More than 30 years are not a long time in the history of a company, but it is a whole era for an IT company. In 1980, when the current chairman Michele Cinaglia founded Engineering Ingegneria Informatica, computer technology in Italy was still in the starting stages. Two Il Sole 24 Ore publications relate the story and development of both, Engineering and its market.
The company was founded by a management buy out of Cerved, the IT company of the Italian parliament system, now Infocamere.

Rosario Amodeo, currently CEO, became a shareholder in 1984 and joined the company in 1988. The founding shareholders hold 67% of share capital, i.e. 12.5 million ordinary shares.

1990 to 2000: consolidation and Stock Market listing

Alongside the shareholding directors, industrial and financial partners with minority shareholdings have joined over time, such as IBM and IMI, Benetton and the Pesenti Group. And it was IMI in 2000 that led the parent company's entry into the Italian Stock Exchange: now the TechStar segment for securities with the highest requisites.

2000-2012: growth and acquisitions

From software house to global player, Engineering entered the Italian stock exchange in 2000. The company and the Group fund their internal growth and expansion

through acquisitions thanks to the arrival of new capital from the market, in an increasingly global and competitive market. In recent years Engineering has invested over €200m in new acquisitions, which have enhanced the Group in terms of the competences and resources of about 6,500 IT professional.
