Challenge
Our customer is a global player specialized in railway and metro transportation. It needed a technical expert and system integrator cabable of delivering and deploying an integrated monitoring and control system for the first autonomous metro line of the city of Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece in terms of population.
Approach
An important infrastructure for the city, the metro would run over 6 miles long and consist of 13 stations, which would meet the growing mobility needs of almost one million citizens. Client's focus was passenger safety and user experience. The metro would be driverless and would have automatic doors at every station through which commuters could access the trains. As a result, this initiative required the implementation of a number of cutting-edge technologies.

Digital Ecosystem

Our expert team applied our unique end-to-end approach to cover the lifecycle of this project, delivering the design, implementation and training on four different metro monitoring system:

  • Power Remote Control System to control electrical substations, auxiliary and medium voltage systems.
  • Standard Building Automation Control System to manage mechanical systems (elevators, escalators, heating, air conditioning).
  • Security Management System to supervise station security systems (access control, cameras, alarms).
  • High-Risk Building Automation Control System (SIL2 - Safety Integrity Level 2) enabling control of ventilation systems and the evacuation of passengers in case of emergencies.
