Engineering, among the main global companies that accompanies and guides public and private companies in Digital Transformation, in addition to the mix of the most advanced technologies, fields SMART PROXIMITY (https://www.eng.it/en/our-platforms-solutions/smart-proximity): a new immediate, simple and effective solution in order to implement social distancing measures in workplaces, ensuring personnel protection and production efficiency.

Smart Proximity allows to notify workers of the distance between them simply and with total precision using a wearable device (smart sensor).
When the safety distance between two workers equipped with the device is not respected, the two sensors signal the critical issue via a LED, vibration or sound alarm.
All contacts are stored for subsequent analysis.

Proximity Sensor
The wearable sensor, engineered in a bracelet or other support, identifies a system capable of relating to one or more sensors nearby. Each sensor interacts with the other by sending and receiving proximity information.
When the two devices are in sight, they alert the operator in real time (sound / LED), inviting them to maintain the safety distance. The alert function does not require any interaction with the center as it is autonomously activated by the device. The device is able to detect other nearby devices within 1.5 meters with an error of +/- 10 cm

The information collected by the device is sent, using the Wi-Fi network or the BLE, to a storage and processing system through which it is possible to analyze all the events recorded by the devices: should an employee be affected by Covid 19, the list of all contacts is obtained immediately.
The data collected can be exchanged with SSN monitoring systems.


Privacy and Security
No sensitive information is stored by the platform. Only the unique identifiers of the sensor and the temporal relationships between them are stored and kept strictly anonymous without any association with the user’s data. The unique identifiers on the smart sensor are encrypted and the information travels on a secure channel. The user gives his/her consent to the recovery of the anonymous time relationship information from his/her sensor to systems external to the platform.
