ASGARD empowers Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to be technologically autonomous by building a sustainable and long lasting community of LEAs and R&D players working together to define, develop, share, and evolve open source big data technology solutions that will help LEAs prevent and fight against crime and terrorism. The community will leverage on a set of tools and techniques that will be made available.
The role of end-users is paramount for setting up the community, identifying and prioritising the most demanded tools, evaluating the initial releases of services and applications in order to provide feedback and for opening up the community to a wider audience of interested LEAs. By the end of the project ASGARD will deliver an active and sustainable community of practitioners and has successfully delivered and evaluated the tools & infrastructure developed during the project, reinforcing all participants’ motivation to participate in the community.
ASGARD will enhance LEAs’ efficiency and capabilities in forensic, intelligence, and foresight by delivering a set of easily configurable and deployable tools and applications. The tools to be delivered will be prioritised by LEAs. User-friendly and easy-to-use applications will allow very quick definition and set up of ad hoc data acquisition, processing, analysis, and exploitation workflows to tackle the specific needs of each investigation. The resulting tools will exploit recent advances in the ICT sector and will be designed in a way that they are easily and rapidly deployable to face threats and needs as they emerge.
ASGARD will also improve LEAs’ capabilities for trans-border LEAs data-exchange and collaboration and includes a formal training and certification programme directed towards maximising the knowledge of LEAs’ analysts in analysis and information exploitation using the set of tools built within the project.
In the context of the project activities, Engineering is will develop the system architecture, and will lead the orchestration, the Intelligence Applications e the continuous integration.
