Statistics Portugal and Eurostat co-organise this event which will focus on the relevance and benefits of using public and privately-held data in the production of statistics as a contribution to society and on enhancing the value of statistics as a public good. The event foresees also external speakers enriching the discussions with their views and experiences on the subject.
The event will also be an opportunity to increase awareness towards the importance of accessing and using privately-held data for statistical purposes at national and European level.
Roberto Di Bernardo, our Head of Open Government R&D Unit, will provide a speech on "EU Data Strategy – data as opportunity driver for local communities", during which he will give an overview on the future opportunities offered by the EU Data Strategy in terms of data availability and sharing supporting the new data economy. He will give particular focus to the use of statistical data for the benefit of local communities and will present examples from the INTERSTAT project and some Proof of Concepts implemented by Engineering using the Digital Enabler.
