Enabling self-adaptation of renewable energy communities with a capability-based Digital Twin

The paper presents a capability-based Digital Twin model for Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), developed according to the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) standard, together with an architecture for its implementation.

The approach enables the representation of the various components of energy communities through standardized capabilities that are independent of technology providers, fostering interoperability between devices and energy systems.

The solution enables real-time energy management and lays the groundwork for the development of self-adaptive Digital Twins capable of dynamically responding to the needs of energy communities and contributing to more efficient and flexible resource management.
