URBSENSE 2026

AVANT and Urban Digital Twins for Safer and Smarter Cities.

Engineering takes part in URBSENSE 2026 – URBan SENSEmaking and Intelligence for Safer Cities, an international workshop focused on urban intelligence and adaptive systems for safer and more resilient cities.

Engineering’s participation is connected to the AVANT (IPCEICIS) project, which develops an open and interoperable framework for Digital Twins across the cloudedge continuum, enabling advanced applications also in complex urban environments.

During the event, Ivan Piacere, Technical Researcher Advisor, and Francesco Labarile, Software Development Advisor, presented the paper “Architecture and Algorithms for an Urban Mobility Digital Twin”, describing a digital twin solution of the urban road network designed for monitoring, analysing and simulating urban mobility.

The solution enables key capabilities such as traffic condition prediction, accident risk estimation, and traffic simulation to assess the impact of infrastructural changes, contributing to the development of smarter, safer and more efficient cities within the AVANT project.
