Engineering joins the new Sovereign AI Foundation (SAIF)

Engineering is among the 17 organizations participating in the launch of the Sovereign AI Foundation (SAIF), the new Eclipse Foundation initiative aiming to foster an open, vendor-neutral AI ecosystem, strengthening autonomy, control and freedom of choice over critical technologie, to promote a more open and informed approach to AI adoption.

The Foundation aims to connect real-world industry needs with the open source ecosystem, helping organizations understand their technological dependencies, assess open source alternatives, and share experiences and requirements to support more informed technology choices.

At the heart of the initiative is the concept of AI sovereignty: the ability to understand, choose, adapt and govern critical AI systems while maintaining control over the technologies used and the freedom to evolve over time.

In this context, Engineering will contribute to SAIF by leveraging the expertise and capabilities developed through its Research & Innovation activities, including the innovative AVANT project, and by providing advanced know-how in AI & Data Engineering and the development of Agentic AI tools.
