“Mind the System: Human Factors as a core Systems Engineering discipline” is the title of the 2026 edition of the National Systems Engineering Event, organised by AISE, the Italian Chapter of INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering).

The event brings together professionals, researchers, companies, and representatives from institutions and academia to discuss the evolution of Systems Engineering and the increasingly central role of Human Factors in the design and management of complex systems.

Eng is participating as a Silver Sponsor, with its own booth, and is contributing to the event's scientific programme with the paper “IPCEI-CIS AVANT project – Toward AI-Augmented, Human-Centred Systems Engineering through OSLC”.

The paper, presented by Alessio Zimar, Senior Consultant at Eng, and co-authored with Bruno Di Giandomenico and Francesco Riccioni, both Advisor Consultants at Eng, showcases the results of the IPCEI-CIS AVANT project in developing an integrated Systems Engineering solution that connects Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), DevSecOps, Digital Twin, and Digital Thread through the OSLC (Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration) standard.

The solution, demonstrated through an aerospace proof of concept involving a landing gear system, enables the integration of requirements, software, CAD design, simulations, and testing throughout the entire system lifecycle, enhancing interoperability, traceability, and change management.

The integration of Artificial Intelligence also enables the automation of certain development activities, supporting engineers in design-related decision-making and fostering an approach in which human needs and responsibilities become an integral part of the design process.
