European Big Data Value Forum 2026

The European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) is the flagship event of the European research and innovation community on Big Data and Data-Driven AI, organised by the Big Data Value Association (BDVA).

The 2026 edition, themed “Building Europe’s AI and Data backbone: Strategy, Investment and Impact”, brings together industry professionals, companies, researchers and policymakers to discuss the strategies and technologies needed to strengthen Europe’s Data and Artificial Intelligence ecosystem.

Eng participates as an event Platinum sponsor and has its own booth - where visitors can discover EngGPT, the Large Language Model (LLM) developed by the Group - while also contributing to the programme through several sessions addressing some of the key topics of the 2026 edition: Industrial AI, Manufacturing, Energy, Data Spaces and Agrifood.

In particular: 

• Vito Morreale, Head of R&I Labs, speaks on September 30 at the “Building a competitive Industrial AI ecosystem” session, focused on building a more coordinated European ecosystem for Industrial AI. The session brings together representatives from industry and the European AI ecosystem to discuss technologies, instruments and collaboration models that can accelerate AI adoption in industrial environments and strengthen European competitiveness.

• Davide Dalle Carbonare, R&I Business Partner at Eng, member of the Board of Directors of BDVA/DAIRO and co-leader of the Smart Manufacturing Industry Working Group, participates on September 30 in the “Speakers Corner”, while on October 1 he contributes to the “Manufacturing as a Service and the DATA/AI backbone challenge” session, focusing on the achievements and lessons learned from European Made in Europe projects on Manufacturing as a Service and on the role of Data and AI infrastructures in enabling new industrial models and services.

• Massimo Bertoncini, R&I Business Partner at Eng, leads the “From AI for Energy to Energy for AI: Closing the loop” session on September 30, exploring the growing two-way relationship between AI and energy: on the one hand, the potential of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins and Data Spaces to optimise energy systems and improve their resilience; on the other, the need to address the increasing energy demand associated with the widespread adoption of AI and computing infrastructures.

• Giulia Antonucci, R&I Business Partner at Eng, co-leader of BDVA’s Agrifood Task Force, moderates the “From Agrifood Data Spaces to Real Business Value” session on October 1, addressing the challenge of turning Data Spaces, data infrastructures and AI solutions into tangible value for businesses, farmers, public administrations and citizens. The discussion explores real-world experiences, emerging business models and strategies to accelerate the adoption of sustainable data-driven services, while also presenting the first results and key messages from the BDVA Agrifood Task Force Position Paper.
