Ettore Soldi (Eng) at the inauguration of the AI HUB: "Our AI solutions and our commitment to research in support of the Mattei Plan and inclusive technological development"
This morning, Engineering, a leader in the digitalization of processes for businesses and public administration, was among the key players at the official launch of the AI Hub for Sustainable Development. The initiative - co-designed by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and backed by G7 leaders - aims to rethink global partnerships in Artificial Intelligence with the objective of supporting the implementation of the Mattei Plan.
During the session titled “Voices of Innovation: Advancing AI Foundations for a New Industrial Development”, Ettore Soldi, Executive Vice President of Engineering Industries eXcellence (Engineering Group), showcased the company’s commitment to developing cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence solutions, such as the EngGPT suite, and to Research & Innovation, a field in which the company led 110 projects in 2024 alone, with a total investment of €28 million. Soldi also reaffirmed the Group's intention to actively contribute to the Mattei Plan by promoting sustainable, inclusive, and internationally cooperative technological development.
It is in this context that Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding yesterday with Egabi, a leading IT services provider and digital solutions company in Egypt, to pursue digitalization projects in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors aimed at increasing accessibility, safety, and regulatory compliance. The signing took place in the presence of the Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and the Head of AI Office in Brussels, Lucilla Sioli. Engineering, the only Italian company to sign such an agreement, thus strengthens an existing collaboration with Egabi on a major pharmaceutical distribution project in Egypt.
"For over forty years, Engineering has been investing in research and the development of Artificial Intelligence, driven by the belief that this technology is a strategic lever for truly sustainable digital development on a global scale," said Ettore Soldi. "That’s why it is a privilege to participate in the official launch of the AI Hub and reaffirm our commitment to the implementation of the Mattei Plan. Following our participation in the G7 meeting last October, we pledged to explore partnerships with African companies in key sectors such as healthcare, education, and digital water resource management, launching concrete collaborations in Egypt and Kenya. The signing of the MoU with Egabi is a tangible example of international cooperation aimed at delivering real benefits to people in a fundamental sector like healthcare."
