FALCON - Fight Against Large-scale Corruption and Organised Crime Networks

Data-driven tools and AI frameworks to strengthen evidence-based anti-corruption and organised crime investigations.

Where: international
Challenge
The global fight against corruption faces significant challenges: fragmented information, incomplete evidence, complex contexts and often subjective assessments. In this context, advanced technological tools and integrated intelligence systems, developed through a collaborative, multi-stakeholder approach, are essential.
Approach
The FALCON project addresses these challenges by developing objective indicators of corruption and applying advanced data analysis techniques to build comprehensive and reliable intelligence frameworks. The project provides tools for data acquisition and integration, risk assessment and decision-making support, utilising AI methodologies such as machine learning and semantic analysis. The approach is iterative and co-designed with end-users, validated through pilot use cases and reinforced by training and cross-border collaboration, in order to ensure concrete results that can be utilised in investigative activities.
Solution

FALCON offers advanced data analytics tools capable of integrating diverse data sources into unified knowledge graphs, enabling the identification of risk factors and operational indicators of corruption. The project addresses various forms of corruption and illicit practices, including risks associated with exposed individuals and highly sensitive contexts. Through the involvement of law enforcement agencies, academic institutions and NGOs in six European countries, FALCON promotes data-driven solutions supported by pilot applications and capacity-building activities to strengthen the fight against corruption. Engineering contributes to the development of tools for risk assessment, predictive analysis, data visualisation and decision support.

The project was funded by the European Horizon 2020 programme – GA n. 101121281
