Challenge
Today, AI is a strategic tool for all organizations, yet the most advanced language models are primarily designed to understand content in English. HAIR addresses this challenge by providing accurate, multilingual language‑processing solutions that promote European languages and unlock the full potential of AI across diverse use cases.
Approach
HAIR is an initiative of the ICSC – National Research Centre in High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing, and benefits from the computing capabilities provided by CINECA.
HAIR adopts an innovative approach to the development, training, and integration of a complete suite of multilingual LLMs, scaling their training efficiently while maintaining the highest security standards. It delivers more accurate and nuanced language processing across different languages.

HAIR is a tools hub designed to facilitate the development of training datasets for LLMs in selected European languages, and to use these datasets to enhance LLM performance through fine‑tuning techniques. Engineering is responsible for data collection to support LLM fine‑tuning and for implementing the LLM development hub.
The research project is funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Spoke 0 – Supercomputing Cloud Infrastructure.
