The Engineering Group, leader in digitalization processes for companies and Public Administrations, has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, prepared in accordance with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), the most widely used international standard.

The Report covers more than 80 sites in 22 countries and reports, through 28 key performance indicators, the progress of the 2024–2026 ESG Strategic Plan across the Environmental, Social and Governance areas, showing the consolidation of a sustainability governance model fully integrated into the Group’s decision-making chain.

Michelangelo Suigo, Group Chief Public Affairs, Corporate Communication & Sustainability Officer at Engineering, stated: “With the 2025 Sustainability Report we confirm a model guided by integrated processes and measurable KPIs, with concrete results and credible, comparable reporting. At Engineering, we continue to work to embed sustainability even more deeply into the business: this is the method we apply for our clients, our people and local communities. Along this path, Artificial Intelligence is a key enabler: when governed responsibly, it helps measure impacts better, optimize processes and consumption, and accelerate the energy and digital transition, generating concrete value. We continue to move forward with rigour and transparency, to remain a point of reference for sustainability across the entire digital ecosystem”.

The intersection between Artificial Intelligence and sustainability is central. With its modular IS-IA architecture (Italy’s Sovereign Intelligence Architecture), based on EngGPT 2, the proprietary LLM developed entirely in Italy, Engineering provides Public Administrations and Italian companies with a sovereign, efficient and open GenAI model. It is designed according to AI Act standards and can ensure strong energy performance, both during training and in real-world platform use.

The new Sustainability Report also describes how Engineering translates the close link between AI and sustainability into concrete projects for clients, people and communities: from the use of GenAI solutions for coastal monitoring to support the observation and protection of marine and coastal ecosystems, to the use of EngGPT Data Quality to make the updating of pandemic plans more effective. The same logic guides the development of conversational GenAI for digital citizenship, designed to reduce barriers to access to public services.

ENVIRONMENTAL: DECARBONIZATION, EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

In 2025 Engineering continued its decarbonization path, validated by SBTi in July 2024, with tangible results. Scope 1 and 2 emissions (market-based) decreased by 46% compared to the 2022 baseline (-7% compared to 2024), thanks to lower fuel consumption in the company car fleet, the increase in electric and hybrid vehicles, and efficiency measures for spaces and consumption. Scope 3 emissions also decreased (-5% compared to 2024), thanks to the rationalization of Group purchasing and the promotion of sustainable mobility.

The Group’s total energy consumption decreases by 7% compared to 2024, and almost 100% of the electricity consumed by offices in Italy comes from renewable sources. The Data Center efficiency improvement plan is particularly relevant: in Pont Saint-Martin and Vicenza the PUE remains at 1.47; at the Turin Data Center electricity consumption was reduced by 37%, with PUE improving to 1.89, thanks to the installation of a new high-efficiency uninterruptible power supply and the optimization of air-conditioning system set points.

SOCIAL: PEOPLE, INCLUSION, TRAINING AND WELLBEING

On the social front, the Group continues strengthening its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion policies. The gender pay gap in Italy decreased from -1.5% in 2024 to -1.12% in 2025, confirming a structural improvement trend; women in leadership roles in Italy reached 20.8%.

The Group invests in young talent: in 2025, 694 people under 30 were hired (51% of new hires), bringing the population in this age group to more than 2,300 employees. The Academy Programs play a central role: free training paths dedicated to young people. In the 2024–2025 two-year period, 17 editions were launched with more than 200 participants, and the post-Academy hiring rate reached 68% in 2025.

In 2025, an integrated approach to people’s wellbeing was consolidated, structured around four pillars: Physical, Mental, Social and Financial Wellbeing. Particular attention was dedicated to mental wellbeing through the ENG-Care program, which expands initiatives for psychological support and work-life balance.

GOVERNANCE: AI ACT, NIS2 AND DATA OVERSIGHT

Engineering strengthened its governance oversight with the introduction of the new Compliance & Data Protection function, which centralizes regulatory compliance for the entire Group in the year the European AI Act entered into force and amid the continuous strengthening of privacy and cybersecurity safeguards.

In the field of Artificial Intelligence, the AI Governance Strategy Policy was published, incorporating the contents of the AI Act into business processes and reflecting the commitment made through the signing of the AI Pact, guiding Engineering’s AI governance framework towards security, fairness and respect for human rights. The NIS Organizational Model was also adopted, defining the Group’s governance framework to ensure the widespread application and continuous updating of the technical, operational and organizational measures required by the NIS2 regulation.

SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT: RESPONSIBLE SUPPLY CHAIN

Engineering consolidated its commitment to a responsible supply chain: 70% of Top Suppliers (compared to 48% in 2024) are subject to sustainability assessment through a dedicated questionnaire and/or have defined targets aligned with the SBTi standard, confirming the Group’s intention to contribute to the development of an industrial ecosystem based on environmental, social and economic sustainability principles.

RECOGNITIONS AND ESG RATINGS

The Group’s sustainability model has been confirmed by the main rating agencies: in 2025 Engineering obtained the EcoVadis Platinum medal (Top 1% globally), confirmed the “B” score from CDP Climate Change and was included in the A-List of CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment. The “A” score from Synesgy was also confirmed.

Engineering also obtained the Top Employer Italy 2025 recognition (also confirmed in 2026), was included among the 100 best employers for women in Italy and among the Top Job – Best Employers by ITQF. Further confirmations came from its ranking among the top five Italian companies in the social sustainability category of the Blue Green Economy Award and from the Mission Fleet Awards 2025 awarded to the Mobility Manager for the sustainable approach to fleet management.
