Approach

The Department for Digital Transformation of the Italian Prime Minister's Office promoted "Repubblica Digitale", the national strategic initiative with the aim of fighting the cultural digital divide in the Italian population, supporting maximum digital inclusion and promoting education on the technologies of the future.

Fundamental to the achievement of this goal is the activity of the National Coalition for Digital Competencies, composed of public and private entities that adhere to the Manifesto for the Digital Republic, proposing concrete actions, capable of producing measurable and quantifiable results.

Solution

Through the initiative "Senior eHealth" - Investing in Skills and Usability for the Digital Transition of Services to Citizens in Healthcare, Engineering promotes digital access and use of services in Healthcare also for the "senior" age group and their caregivers, by researching and removing the obstacles that today prevent their full diffusion.

The initiative, carried out in collaboration with three Italian Regions - Piedmont, Tuscany, Veneto - focuses on the main channels for accessing information and services: Single Booking Center (CUP - Centro Unico di Prenotazione) and Electronic Health Record (FSE - Fascicolo Sanitario Elettronico).

The initiative is divided into two macro phases:
  1. Listening, analysis and assessment of user needs collected at the physical locations where the services are provided
  2. Definition and implementation of the training interventions necessary to remove the obstacles to digital culture on the part of the target users.

The research is planned and designed using the "Design Kits" of the Designers Italia project, and the implementation of the training activities will be done with the participation of the Third Sector realities.
