Description

The International Open Access Week is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue learning about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they have learned with colleagues, and to inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.

This year’s theme seeks to encourage connection and collaboration among the climate movement and the international open community.

Tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries. The Week is a time to coordinate across communities to make openness the default for research and to ensure that equity is at the centre of this work. This year’s theme is an opportunity to join together, take action, and raise awareness around how open access enables climate justice.

Antonio Filograna, our Senior Researcher and DECIDO project coordinator, will intervene in the session “Open Data in the forefront: driving policy decisions for climate justice” on October 26th.

During this session, the discussion will be focused on how open access is contributing to Climate Justice at a policy level. Antonio will present the approach to the use of open data promoted by DECIDO and will talk about the Turin pilot working on emergency policies related to floods and weather alerts, food waste chain and asylum seekers from Ukraine. He will explain how the tools developed in the project make access to data in a simpler and more effective way supporting the user in the entire flow of the Policy Life Cycle, both for the citizens, businesses and policy makers.
