Case Study

Modernization of Toll Collection Systems in Cloud

ABSTRACT
The applications related to toll collection on highways are being redesigned both in functional and technological terms, on the AWS Cloud platform.

Challenge
The existing challenges within the on-premise system encompass several aspects: limited agility in updating solutions and incorporating new features promptly, complexity in managing transit data, inefficiencies stemming from fragmented functionalities, inadequate autonomy in large-scale data extraction operations, and delays in processes due to the absence of preventive measures to address critical events.
Approach
The main focus of the project is on streamlining the application portfolio, evolving the technological ecosystem, and increasing business productivity. We have adopted a customer-centric, data-centric, cloud-oriented, platform-first, and API-driven approach, along with strict attention to security and operations (SecDevOps).
Digital Ecosystem
Solution
Digital Ecosystem
The project unfolds in three phases, adopting a hybrid approach that combines traditional and Agile methodologies to optimize development time. For user interface design, we have embraced Scrum, DevOps, and Design Thinking, ensuring effective outcomes and a customer-centric interface. The five key interventions include implementing new business processes through advanced features and architectures, integrating technological silos with consolidated modules, streamlining functionalities through unified interfaces, reconstructing transit data traceability via a shared registry, and automating controls with predictive algorithms.
