Evolving SAP IS‑U Management to Support Growth and Sustainability

We supported the customer in the evolution of its SAP system, ensuring reliable operations, continuous application development, IT governance, and the implementation of technological upgrades and new digital portals.

Where: Italy
Challenge
The customer, a leading multi‑utility operator in the energy and services sectors, launched a ten‑year industrial plan focused on sustainability and innovation. This required upgrading the SAP IS‑U system to comply with new regulatory requirements and to integrate additional municipalities. The challenge was to ensure operational continuity across critical processes while simultaneously adopting a more agile application management model.
Approach
Engineering adopted a 360‑degree approach, bringing together functional, technical, and project expertise. The key differentiator was the use of Artificial Intelligence as an acceleration lever across the entire service lifecycle. This was complemented by a comprehensive Application Management Services (AMS) offering, covering the full application lifecycle, along with a strong project delivery component involving functional and technical teams throughout all project phases.
Solution
The initiative covered the entire meter‑to‑cash process through targeted enhancements. Building on this foundation, three key projects were delivered: the upgrade of the SAP HANA platform, completed with no impact on core processes or integrations with external systems; the upgrade of SAP BW/4HANA, strengthening data flows and management reporting; and the redesign of the TICA Portal on SAP BTP, aimed at delivering a modern digital user experience fully integrated with SAP IS‑U systems.
