Supply Chain planning and scheduling

ABSTRACT
A solution to support Mitsubishi Electric in the process of quantifying finished product volumes to make them available to the sales force automatically and synchronously.

Where: italy
Challenge
Mitsubishi Electric is one of the leading brands in the production and marketing of electrical and electronic products and systems. Mitsubishi Italia's customers range from wholesalers to installers and large-scale retailers, with different, seasonal purchasing dynamics, strongly linked to the climate. The need is to be able to flexibly manage product availability and reallocation.
Approach
Engineering, with its extensive presence at Mitsubishi and in-depth knowledge of its processes, first acted as an advisory partner in mapping Mitsubishi's needs and criticalities in the Supply Chain area to define a roadmap of activities and interventions aimed at optimising the E2E flow, and then as an implementation partner following a joint selection of the best technological solution for the customer that could combine flexibility, scalability and low management costs.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem
Taking advantage of the "Order Promising" and "Inventory Control" modules of the sedApta suite, it was possible to implement the calculation of availability per product family, consistent with the inventory levels and planned entries/exits. The availability calculation is carried out by means of different algorithms per product family, which provide an allocation in the various monthly buckets of the available quantity while leaving, however, the opportunity to override what has been defined automatically. Based on the confirmed availability values, the system reports the projection of the stock level for each bucket and any remaining availability. The availability thus calculated then represents the budget, which is exported to the SAP portal so that sales orders can be entered by the agents.
