Case Study

Flying safely with "Smart" maintenance

ABSTRACT
Industry 4.0 and Digital Twin: thanks to a virtual model, it is possible to simulate fleet management and aircraft maintenance processes.

Where: italy
Challenge
Our client is part of one of the largest industrial groups in the world which, with revenues exceeding 100 billion, is among the global leaders in technology and services. Specifically, it operates in the design, production, and maintenance of components and systems used in both civil and military aviation, long recognized for their high reliability.
Approach
Managing the maintenance of an aircraft is a task that requires specific expertise, great attention to detail, and rigorous scheduling of interventions in order to ensure high-quality service in a timely manner.
Solution
To meet these needs, at Engineering we leveraged the advantages of digitalization and virtual technologies to create a model based on Digital Twin. With this technology, we developed an exact copy of the physical process, accessible through intuitive graphical interfaces to support both operational and strategic activities. The model allows the client to simulate fleet management processes and analyze each phase by integrating different types of data, such as engine technical specifications, maintenance centers, flight profiles, and component life cycle. With our model, it is also possible to simulate various scenarios, including critical ones such as bird strike damage.
