BD4NRG: Big Data's economic potential

Our project BD4NRG to create a European approach to the Business to Business platforms able to give a competitive edge to the Energy Sector through Big Data and AI.

Where: international
Challenge
The project uses a flexible management of large amounts of data on the production, distribution and consumption of energy in near real time.
Approach
BD4NRG's approach is to harness the enormous economic potential of Big Data to enable better functioning for all stakeholders in the energy value chain, through the creation and implementation of a common framework for the analysis of production and energy needs. The approach adopted aims to manage and implement an integrated methodology and architecture both from a conceptual and technological point of view, encouraging and motivating all energy stakeholders to share data and create a common space for the data sharing.
Solution
Smart grid stakeholders for the major part work in a fully regulated yet highly critical contexts, where data security and protection breaches and/or relaxation may harness everyday citizens’ life and/or may significantly infringe consumers’ privacy and GDPR. For this reason the solutions will provide a new general standard and interoperable architecture for big data along smart energy grids able to provide a unifying approach for technological components, platforms and interoperability with smart grid operational framework. BD4NRG project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No, 872613.
