Eur3ka: Industry 4.0 and medical emergencies

ABSTRACT
Eur3ka helps the manufacturing and health care industries to quickly and efficiently respond to current and future major medical crises.

Where: international
Challenge
The COVID-19 outbreak has made evident the need for many different industrial sectors to be able to react quickly and be flexible enough in responding to unforeseen, swift changes in the environment due to the emergency and related peeks in demand of products such as medical supplies. as medical supplies.
Approach
The concepts of repurposing and reconfiguration are not new in manufacturing, and the recent Industry 4.0 paradigms, technologies and standards have augmented the capacity of manufacturers to react quickly to different events and changes. Still, the recent COVID-19 related crisis has highlighted the need to further improvements in such capacity.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem
EUR3KA brings together a consortium of 26 partners of excellence from 12 countries, coordinated by Engineering. The results will be achieved by leveraging on working on Industry 4.0 standards and the industrial international common data space enablers and digital infrastructures and upgrading global on-demand and manufacturing as a service platforms through connected and smarter supply networks and global medical supplies and equipment repositories. Among the objectives: a Plug & Respond (P&R) framework, a common open standardized modular manufacturing reference architecture and solutions, top digitally sovereign cross-sectorial manufacturing networks and capacities; cornerstone links among global manufacturing capacities, supply chains and medical knowledge. This project has received funding from the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101016175.
