Challenge
Climate change causes several natural disasters, resulting in severe destruction and disruption of property and industries. These calamities have an impact on the economy, persisting for years after their occurrence. Given the rising frequency and intensity of floods, earthquakes, droughts, landslides, and wildfires, there is a need for more advanced crisis planning and command tools.
Approach
OVERWATCH is an ambitious project that aims to develop a cutting-edge, integrated holographic management system specifically designed for the response, recovery, and mitigation of emergencies and disasters. This system will utilize holographic technology to provide a seamless and immersive platform for emergency management professionals and decision-makers. By revolutionizing the way emergency management is conducted, OVERWATCH strives to usher in a new era of rapid, efficient, and collaborative disaster response and recovery, ultimately contributing to safer and more resilient communities.

OVERWATCH enables the authorities to quickly deploy and manage air, water and ground assets, as well as personnel, through decision support tools integrated in an immersive and decentralized command platform.
This system is supported by combining several services already offered by the European Global Navigation Satellite System (EGNSS) and Copernicus Emergency Management and Security (for example HAS and SAR) with digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence, drones, 5G and Augmented Reality, which will provide the required performance to make this system a valuable resource for citizen, land and infrastructure protection.
