TAILOR: a Network for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence

ABSTRACT
Building a strong academic-public-industrial research network for excellent Trustworthy AI reasearch.

Where: international
Challenge
Europe is taking important steps to become the worldwide leader in human-centered Trustworthy AI. Trustworthiness however still requires significant basic research, and the only way to achieve this is by combining expertise in the areas of learning, optimisation and reasoning, bringing them together in a single scientific network, thereby reducing the fragmentation.
Approach
TAILOR aims at building a strong academic-public-industrial research network with the capacity of providing the scientific basis for Trustworthy AI. It leverages and combines learning, optimization and reasoning to realize AI systems which are reliable, safe, transparent and respectful of human actions and expectations.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem
The TAILOR network is based on a number of innovative mechanisms. A multi-stakeholder strategic research and innovation roadmap coordinates and guides the research in the five basic research programs. Each program involves virtual research environments with many of the best AI researchers in Europe. The project also leverages a collection of mechanisms supporting innovation, commercialization and knowledge transfer to industry. TAILOR provides mechanisms such as AI-Powered Collaboration Tools, a PhD program and training programs. Engineering participates in the development of the use cases related to the trustworthy AI in the public sector. The project has received co-funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme - Contract No. 952215.
