HeyLight: Reimagining Buy Now, Pay Later for the Italian market

In 2022, in response to the rapid growth of the Buy Now, Pay Later market, Compass Banca launched the HeyLight App, the digital touchpoint of its ecosystem of omnichannel solutions and installment payment services available both in-store and online. The initiative aimed to enhance the end-customer experience through an intuitive and secure omnichannel journey, combining speed, simplicity, and flexibility.
Approach

HeyLight is a fully digital payment ecosystem, with the app serving as its primary consumer touchpoint and hosting HeyLight Card, a solution designed to enable installment purchases both online and in physical stores.

We supported the initiative end-to-end, combining digital strategy, user experience design, mobile development, and cloud-native architectures to create an intuitive mobile-first experience. The solution streamlines onboarding, payments, and installment management while ensuring scalability, security, and the agility needed to rapidly introduce new features and services.

We designed and developed the platform around a Flutter mobile application supported by a fully serverless AWS architecture based on Amazon API Gateway and AWS Lambda.

The solution delivers a fast, intuitive, and consistent cross-platform experience while ensuring resilience, operational efficiency, and scalability. Secure REST APIs, protected by AWS WAF and AWS Shield and authenticated through AWS Cognito, provide secure access to services, while AWS Lambda orchestrates integrations with Compass backend systems and external APIs.

The result is a robust cloud-native platform capable of supporting secure, scalable digital payment experiences across both online and in-store channels.
