Case Study

Real-time monitoring of application integrations

ABSTRACT
Enabling observability of application integrations across clinical and departmental systems

Where: italy
Challenge

In public services, applications for managing cases, documents, protocols, and departmental processes exchange data through an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).

Without centralized monitoring, identifying anomalies and assigning responsibility among IT teams and vendors becomes complex, slowing down incident resolution and putting service continuity at risk.

Approach

Extra Red has implemented the Integrations Realtime Monitoring service: a cross-domain, flexible, and modular system that does not interfere with the existing communication channel, but simply observes, correlates, and interprets the data already flowing through it.

By using the community edition of the open-source stack, licensing costs were eliminated, allowing the investment to focus entirely on developing the solution itself.

Solution

Extra Red has implemented Integrations Realtime Monitoring, a flexible, modular, cross-domain system that observes and correlates data without interfering with existing flows.

Built on an on-premise open-source ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), it provides three levels of monitoring (Basic, Advanced, and Semantic) and end-to-end traceability through a dedicated connector and logs with unique identifiers.

Kibana dashboards visualize data flows and KPIs related to messages, latency, and errors, enabling analysis down to individual messages. Proactive alerting, based on historical data, detects anomalous trends and triggers multichannel notifications.
