Case Study

SCM Wood Division of SCM Group, harmonizes its worldwide processes through Engineering and Microsoft Dynamics

ABSTRACT
Definition, implementation and rollout of a core model based on Microsoft DYN365FO for the foreign subsidiaries of the SCM Wood Division of SCM Group.

Challenge
The project involved the phased rollout of the Microsoft solution in SCM Wood Division of SCM Group sales branches in the perimeter through the gradual replacement of old Oracle instances.
Approach
The Engile® methodology was used, a methodological framework developed by Engineering, which combines aspects and tools from the Microsoft CRP methodology, (based on Agile approaches), and the more classic and established “Waterfall” methodology. We designed a specific variant of the Engile methodology to be used when the Group's “Core Model” is to be exported to a subsidiary. In that case, the capabilities of the standard DYN365FO product were replaced by the SCM Best Practices provided in the DYN365FO Core Model (template).

Solution
Digital Ecosystem
The solution involved the implementation of a new Microsoft DYN365FO template, its startup for 5 commercial branches of the SCM division, and the associated application maintenance service. The branches mainly had a systems configuration based on an Oracle EBS installation. Some branches had a full installation of the old ERP, others had a simplified version (EBS Light), covering sales processes, supply chain extended to intercompany flows, and an integration with appropriately adapted local systems. This installation coincides with that of SCM Group S.p.a prior to the migration to Microsoft AX2012, and is consistent with it in terms of master data (AX 2012 master system) and integration for intercompany processes.
