Transforming Wholesale Billing with Digital Order-to-Cash

We have automated and centralized the management of infrastructure services, penalties, and disputes to increase efficiency and reduce risk.

Where: italy
Challenge
One of the leading wholesale telecommunications operators needed to fully automate the manual processes related to infrastructure service billing, penalty management, and dispute resolution. We transformed the billing processes with an integrated cloud solution.
Approach

We adopted a hybrid approach:

Waterfall, applied to infrastructure service billing, where processes were already consolidated. Clear milestones were defined, and post-go-live support was activated to set up the billing services.

Agile, used for penalty and dispute management, which were initially handled entirely manually and lacked structured workflows. We developed custom components iteratively to automate these flows and integrate them with accounting and billing systems.

The solution was implemented on the ZIRA WBRM platform, deployed on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with fully automated releases across all development environments. Dedicated functional streams were introduced for infrastructure service billing, contractual penalty and dispute management, and integration with key enterprise systems from accounting to order management and customer portals.

The project is now evolving to include full integration of remaining wholesale services such as access, premium connectivity, and interconnection traffic within the WBRM platform, consolidating a centralized, efficient, and scalable management model.
