Challenge
The plant in Caviano represents the Ice Cream prodution's flagship of Unilever, a global Dutch-British company owning 400 brands in the food, beverage, care and household branches. The historical site that produces the Algida ice cream had to leap forward in its Digital Transformation to improve processes and increase their efficiency.
Approach
The need was to have a global centralized factory system, easy to use, with the possibility of quickly navigating data, reducing human errors, trace operations, manage data flows from design to production and centrally monitoring the production, potential stops and their causes. We supported Unilever throughout a road map aimed at the digitalization of the factory, consisting of three pillars: CallOff, PQP and PM.

The CallOff solution was provided to improve the materials’ handling management. In fact, it digitalizes the task and traceability processes, carrying out a complete integration among the WMS (Warehouse Management System), the production lines and the ERP system. Thanks to PQP, Unilever can manage the production planning in a centralized way, with the support of dashboards which show all the constraints to be taken into account. The system allows to see real time the production progress, the verification of planning and production and useful data on product’s quality management. Finally, the PM solution monitors real time the status of the production line and all the related stops.
