The creation of a market for ature-based solutions (NBS): nature-inspired strategies, actions and interventions that enhance climate resilience.

Challenge
Developing strategies and tools to address the ongoing climate change is crucial. Invest4Nature aims to better understand the economic and financial performance of NBS in order to promote their investment and accelerate their market deployment.
Approach
The project promotes advanced solutions and new approaches to evaluation and financing of the Nature Based Solutions. Both the presence of several NBS Living Labs and a broad NBS community foster a strong stakeholder involvement (project developers, decision makers, and financial institutions), and create tools that cover NBS in different contexts such as urban, rural, or coastal. The goal is to empower stakeholders and create a future NBS market.

Digital Ecosystem
The solution consists of several tools that rely on an open-data database related to NBS and a decision support toolbox (DS). Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques are used to facilitate and improve user experience. Engineering offers expertise on digital tools to monitor the impact of NBS and supports the digital transformation of public authorities with the interoperable Digital Enabler platform, enhanced to provide analytical data for cost-benefit analysis.
The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101061083.
