ENERGATE: Energy efficiency platform for sustainable investments

The project facilitates an ICT-enabled marketplace for energy efficiency, merging energy services and sustainable finance to boost building renovation rate and increase project financing.

Where: international
Challenge
Promoting the acceleration and deeper renovation of the existing buildings is vital for reaching EU climate and energy efficiency objectives. The report issued in 2020 by the European Court of Auditors identifies several aspects that should be improved in this matter.
Approach
For this reason ENERGATE aims at including: - A better prioritisation of projects delivering energy savings or other benefits at lower costs; - A monitoring system that will provide data on energy saved through spending EU funds on renovating residential buildings; - Improved management, especially in the area of project selection, to achieve higher energy savings per euro invested..
Solution

ENERGATE aims to integrate the different stages of the building EE project cycle through an ICT-enabled solution. It provides a standardized project development facility where project sponsors and owners or private or public entities can announce their projects in a structured manner that takes into account different financing tools. Through aggregation, due diligence, and cash flow enhancement, projects and measures are packaged effectively. ENERGATE connects with EU-funded projects and emerging data marketplaces. Engineering, as coordinator also of MATRYCS, another project on energy efficiency for buildings, supports the cooperation framework, focusing on interoperability and specification requirements.

The project has received co-funding from the European Union's LIFE programme - Contract No.101076349.
