ERATOSTHENES: secure management of IoT devices lifecycle

ABSTRACT
A Trust and Identity Management Framework to dynamically and holistically manage the lifecycle of IoT devices.

Where: international
Challenge
The project aims to solve critical obstacles considering “Security of Things” as core to the future IoT success, providing core cybersecurity features to be adopted by IoT solution providers and manufacturers as baseline certification elements in the production of devices and throughout their entire lifecycle.
Approach
The research project ERATOSTHENES builds on recent challenges of IoT networks which include the heterogeneity of IoT devices and the lack of security visibility, effective information sharing, a common trust enforcement mechanism, a transparent identity and privacy framework, security training and protocols.

Digital Ecosystem

The project offers a novel service to support organisations in the security forecast, monitoring and update of their ICT systems. It developes inter-ledger mechanisms to share and track cybersecurity information in a network of IoT devices. In this project, the AI algorithms are based on pre-trained threat analysis models and continuous learning loops, developing a secure model to protect the AI threat analysis against attacks. Engineering is the system integrator and leads the Framework integration and the real-world pilots. It also leads the intrusion detection for IoT-based context and networks. Moreover, it contributes to the impact assessment, and supports the identity management architecture.

The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme - Contract n. 101020416
