IPM Decisions: Decision support for Integrated Pest Management in Europe

ABSTRACT
The Decision Support System (DSS) for agricultural operators that enables the management of crop pest infections.

Where: international
Challenge
Crop protection and pest control are economic issues in Europe. Current DSS provide limited advice due to insufficient precision testing and poor risk-benefit assessment. Available solutions are not adequately evaluated for safety and efficacy, and integrated predictive models are lacking. In addition, DSS are developed regionally, which limits their use.
Approach
IPM Decisions supports decision-making with respect to multiple crops and multi-parasite management with the ultimate goal of achieving impacts aligned to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles.
Solution

IPM Decisions provides a decision-support platform for integrated pest management, serving farmers, advisors, researchers, and companies. It offers a user-friendly, customized interface tailored to each user profile, enabling the selection and management of decision support systems (DSS), integration of existing ones, result comparison, and modification of pest monitoring parameters based on specific country requirements.

Engineering contributes to developing platform standards and data formats, designing and building DSS dashboards, and training stakeholders across different countries.

The project has received co-funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme - Grant agreement ID: 817617
