RAISE - Spoke 2: Robotics e AI for personal and remote health care

ABSTRACT
The application of robotics and artificial intelligence to the field of healthcare.

Where: Italy
Challenge
In the context of developing the RAISE innovation ecosystem, Spoke 2 aims to create the technological foundations for a distributed, connected, and personalized healthcare system, addressing the technological challenges related to home care, personalized medical treatments, and diagnostics.
Approach
In RAISE – Spoke 2 Robotic Assistants (RAs) provide support in some of the tasks usually performed by caregivers in the context of home care, such as delivering physical-cognitive rehabilitation exercises, therapy reminders, monitoring for potential falls, and encouraging socialization. Through AI and ML technologies, RAs can learn human-like social behaviors from multimodal data collected during interactions with users and enable the evolution of the learned behavioral models through subsequent interactions.
Digital Ecosystem
Solution
Digital Ecosystem

RAISE – Spoke 2 is developing a library of AI and machine learning (ML) algorithms and a prototype of a robotic assistance system to support patients with degenerative diseases by monitoring health, detecting potential incidents, and assisting with daily activities. Engineering is responsible for providing software tools for programming physical RAs.

RAISE – Spoke 2 is part of the RAISE project, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.5.
