Use Case

An intuitive and interactive app for discovering local heritage

ABSTRACT
A mobile app enhances the tourist experience through Augmented Reality: simply point your camera at a monument to access historical facts, cultural insights, and verified curiosities.

Where: Italy
Mission
Visitors often struggle to find immediate and reliable information about points of interest. Paper guides are often outdated, incomplete, or hard to find, while websites are not always optimized for mobile use or able to adapt to users’ movements and preference.
Solution

The app, powered by EngGPT, allows visitors to point their camera at a monument to automatically identify it and instantly access dedicated content — including historical information, anecdotes, visiting hours and ticket prices, links to nearby points of interest, and suggested itineraries. Through the app, users can also locate and contact a local tour guide available on site in real time.

All of this is delivered through a user-friendly, multilingual interface that is continuously updated and adapts to user preferences. The visual recognition technology integrated with Augmented Reality simplifies access to information, making local heritage more accessible and engaging.

Actions
  • Collection and normalization of data from various cultural institutions, local historians, and IT experts to ensure high-quality content.
  • Mapping of key local monuments and attractions, enriched with descriptive texts, images, audio, and video content.
  • Integration of AR technologies with visual recognition capabilities.
