Building Careers by Putting People First

A conversation with Genta Tarko, HR Business Partner & Talent Acquisition Lead at Engineering Albania.

Behind every successful team, there’s someone who knows how to spot potential, build trust, and connect the right people with the right opportunities. In a world where talent drives innovation, the role of HR isn’t just administrative — it’s strategic, human-centered, and transformational.

Meet Genta, HR Business Partner and Talent Acquisition Lead at Engineering Albania. In this conversation, Genta shares her thoughts on what meaningful HR work looks like, how to stand out as a candidate, and why careers are built through a balance of strategy, empathy, and curiosity.

Hi Genta, can you introduce yourself briefly? Tell us a bit about your path so far.

Hi, I am Genta and I work as HR Business Partner and Talent Acquisition Lead at Engineering Albania. Over the last 10 years I have been following a career path in Human Resources. It was quite exciting to start from Recruitment and then explore all HR areas such as Employee Relations, Labor Law, Compensation, Technical Recruitment, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and lately HR Business Partnering. Being in stand-alone HR roles for almost 8 years made me learn about all aspects of Human Resources with both Albanian and international collaborators, who have shaped my career path significantly.

What made you join Engineering Albania? What do you like about your team the most?

Back when I joined, Engineering Albania was an idea that was on paper and not yet implemented. It felt really exciting to join a team of amazing professionals with so much willingness to build something new. The ‘big picture’ looked so great back then and it still does. What I like the most about my team is the diversity of skills we bring to the table and how well we combine them with each other. You are never alone in our team as there is always someone there to support you.

When recruiting, is there anything specific you pay attention to? What does recruitment process look like at Engineering Albania?

When recruiting, I like to pay attention to people - who they are and how they have tried to shape a career path for themselves. I like to see ‘the potential’ in people as I want to read between the lines of what they are doing right now. I ask myself what they could be in the future and how eager they are to be exactly what they have imagined. The desire and willingness of a candidate to be someone and what they are doing for it is very important when I recruit for a role. The recruitment process for Engineering Albania is very dynamic, since our company has a lot of interesting roles to offer. The whole recruitment process is an ongoing conversation with people, and it feels great to be part of this communication with all candidates. It doesn’t matter if they are successful or not in the process. They all express a desire to contribute to Engineering Albania’s mission and team.

In your work, you communicate with plenty of candidates on a daily basis. Could you share a few tips on how candidates can stand out more easily?

For me, the candidates who stand out are those who really see themselves in the role in the job description we posted. They are approachable, proactive in communication, ask questions, and continuously express their interest. It is the willingness they have to fit a role and the desire to contribute to their own career path by doing something significant for themselves and what they truly like.

There is a lot of discussion about CVs and how to prepare a good application for an AI environment. What does a good CV look like in your opinion?

True. AI is our friend if we use it in the right way, even for CV drafting. For me, every experience counts in a CV. That makes me read the whole story. I appreciate concise and short CVs as much as I appreciate the ones where candidates take the time to explain in a brief manner what they were exactly doing as part of a role. That helps a lot. One of the parts I appreciate the most is projects, even if you are a junior or a student, as well as certifications and courses. That tells me so much about the effort of candidates to create a path for themselves and to be exactly who they want to be. Every detail can count when presenting yourself and your path so far.
