Case Study

Blockchain for the Fashion sector

ABSTRACT
With Pattern, we have created a solution that guarantees the traceability and sustainability of products.

Where: italy
Challenge
Founded in late 2000, Pattern operates in the design, engineering, development, prototyping and production of clothing lines for some of the world's high-end brands. As consumers become increasingly sensitive to sustainability and animal welfare, it felt the need to find a solution that would ensure traceability and sustainability of production, protection against counterfeiting and transparency.
Approach
We have adopted a design thinking approach that allows Pattern to track and transfer information from the design, modelling, production and quality control phases: from collection data to factory data to information about the materials used.
Solution

We have implemented a modular solution on the Ethereum Blockchain, based on QR code and RFID technologies, as well as the REST API architecture. By scanning the code QR on the label, the consumer can access the history and certifications of the garment. Providing information about brands, shops and content on social media increases the post-purchase relationship with the customer and online sales. The solution includes an authorisation workflow for approving and viewing content and provides reports on KPIs and trends.

It is also ready for future developments: an app to communicate brand values to the end customer, using blockchain technology with brand awareness in mind.
