MultiRATE: A holistic framework for analysing technology maturity

An integrated approach to measure the readiness and maturity of security technologies and of all aspects of a product, system or process, combining different methods and indicators into a single, reliable scale.

Challenge
In recent years, classification systems have been developed to assess the technological maturity of European projects, but conflicting results undermine their reliability. A harmonized evaluation would enhance decision-making and the adoption of results. However, the insufficient application of methodologies in R&I projects in the security sector highlights the need for a scalable framework.
Approach
MultiRATE proposes a scalable assessment framework that integrates existing readiness levels into one reliable solution to determine the readiness of products, systems and processes. Through a thorough investigation of current methodologies, MultiRATE develops a comprehensive scale considering various aspects, including Technology Readiness Level (TRL), l’Integration Readiness Level (IRL), il Commercialisation Readiness Level (CRL), il Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL), il Security Readiness Level (SecRL), Legal, Privacy and Ethics Readiness Level (LPERL) e il Societal Readiness Level (SocRL).

Digital Ecosystem

MultiRATE delivers an advanced cross-disciplinary methodology and tool that provides a common assessment for all EU funded activities, througt the integration and harmonization of 7 main Rediness Levels (RLs). Engineering designs the holistic RL tool architecture and leads the task related the IRL design and implementation.

The project has received co-funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe programme, under Grant Agreement N. 01073929
