Engineering brings AI and Cybersecurity to San Patrignano

The training initiative led by the Group's Academy continues. The new courses will focus on cybersecurity, personal data protection, and the use of AI tools for content creation.

The digital literacy project dedicated to the young women and men of the San Patrignano Community is back for another year. Promoted by Engineering’s IT & Management Academy – a leader in the digital transformation of companies and public administrations – the training initiative aims to equip participants with essential digital skills for successful social and professional reintegration.

Launched in 2022, the program offers hands-on learning to help residents of the community navigate the digital world. The new training cycle, starting today, July 7, will take place in person at the Community and will consist of an initial 32-hour course involving around 20 participants. The program is designed to update their digital skills, focusing on pressing topics such as cybersecurity, data privacy, digital identity management, and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.

Participants will learn how to create and manage secure passwords, activate two-factor authentication systems such as SPID, and recognize suspicious websites or messages to prevent online fraud. Sessions will cover privacy protection on social media, proper use of cloud services, and security settings on mobile devices. The course will also explore how to use AI tools to improve online communication and enhance one’s CV.

"For years, Engineering has been promoting inclusion projects, both within the company and across communities, with the belief that digital transformation must be a truly accessible opportunity for all—capable of breaking down barriers and fostering concrete and lasting integration," says Ferdinando Lo Re, Director of Engineering’s IT & Management Academy. "With this new training initiative at San Patrignano, we aim to provide participants with the tools they need to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly, empowering them to use technology independently and consciously. Today, digital literacy is not just a professional asset but a fundamental key to accessing rights, services, and full social participation."

"These are truly interesting and important lessons for our young people—covering topics that might seem obvious to many, but really aren’t," explains Francesco Vismara, head of San Patrignano’s training programs. "Those who come to us often need to learn the basics of online behavior, digital privacy, and how to defend themselves from potential threats. This is another essential step toward their independence—crucial for both their personal lives and their future employment."

Over the years, Engineering’s training journey with San Patrignano has seen constant evolution: from the very first virtual classroom course on basic PC use and internet navigation, to in-person lessons on tools like Excel, Word, and email, and then to a more advanced curriculum in 2024.
Each edition has marked another step forward toward the digital independence of the participants.
