INPS: Digital Workplace and new services for citizens

In the most critical phase of the Covid-19 emergency we have worked alongside INPS to innovate its services and work organisation.

Challenge
The Covid-19 emergency meant that INPS (Istituto nazionale previdenza sociale [Italian national social security institute]) was suddenly faced with an enormous workload: both in terms of changing the operating methods of its employees (many of whom started working remotely) and in terms of managing, in the shortest possible time, all the Covid-19 regulatory procedures for which it was responsible.
Approach
Engineering supported the Institute in activities related both to the implementation of new Covid services and to urgent interventions on existing services. To cope with the sudden change in working methods, we focused on enhancing the ways in which work teams can access the Institute's systems remotely.
Solution
The implementation of new Covid services and interventions on existing services allowed us to support the Institute at a time of huge difficulty. In particular, we supported the management of services related to the Covid emergency (e.g. management and validation of Covid Bonus, CIGO applications for new Covid requirements, extension of DURC certificates, "Baby Sitter" Bonus, re-planning for check-ups for Civil Invalidity, CIG). The provision of services was made possible by timely adjusting to the secure access methods made available to INPS.
