Challenge
Remote and automatic smart light on-off control, dimming, and scheduling can bring massive impact on energy savings and maintenance for Public Administrations.
Approach
We helped the German city of Monheim am Rhein to setup a system which enabled an efficient orchestration of a set of smart lamps wich had been placed in the main square of the city center. With the Digital Enabler we provided a control room which allowed to automatically switch on / off / and dimmer the public lighting taking into consideration, among others, events such as fog, rain and snow .

Engineering took care of all the technical aspects of the project which followed an 100% SCRUM compliant approach as required by the Municipality itself. The system was able to interact with a public illumination model built with Arduino and its versatility enabled the city council to control both single lamps and bunches of them. Monheim am Rhein scenario required the development of integration and correlation models for data coming from different sources, which were rapidly developed through the Digital Enabler. The system allowed also the continuous monitoring of the illumination system making sure that any misfunctioning would be promptly reported to the mantainers.
