Challenge

The mission of INAIL is to protect workers' safety by preventing accidents and occupational diseases, providing them with economic and healthcare support in case of work-related incidents.

The main objective of application reengineering is to simplify internal administrative processes through digital workflows and enhance the user experience in accessing procedures and services.

Approach

The project activities began with an initial phase of mapping and assessing AS-IS processes, actively involving users to analyze areas for improvement and design the new system to ensure usability and effectiveness.

The second phase was carried out by a multidisciplinary team composed of Process Specialists, User Experience Design Experts, Domain Experts, and a Software Factory. The goal was to develop and release functionalities progressively while continuously engaging users to gather feedback and implement necessary improvements.

Digital Ecosystem

The ongoing projects are led by the Engineering team, which includes domain experts and specialists from internal Competence Centers. Specifically, the team provides specialized support for the redesign of administrative processes and the development of new services with a User-Centered approach, as well as Change Management to oversee the transition from legacy systems to new ones.

The solutions have been designed using a microservices architecture on a Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure and are accessed via the CA API Gateway. Project activities are carried out using a hybrid Agile/Waterfall methodology, selected based on the stability of functional requirements.
