PathoCERT - For a better detection of pathogens

A research project to strengthen the coordination capability of the first responders in handling waterborne pathogen contamination events.

Where: international
Challenge
The objective of the PathoCERT project is to strengthen such a coordination of the FR in responding to waterborne pathogen contamination events.
Approach
Waterborne pathogen contamination management involves many aspects from detection and situation awareness, to epidemiological, threat, risk assessment and criminal investigation. The current approaches employed by First Responders (FR) lack sometimes in adequate coordination and show a capability gap in the ability to rapidly identify hazardous agents and contaminants.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem

PathoCERT researches and implements pathogen contamination emergency response technologies, tools and guidelines to be validated by first responders, helping them to detect pathogens quickly and to better control emergency situations. Engineering plays the role of data integrator focusing on the design and development of a platform allowing data retrieval from sensors, analysis tools, drones, satellite images etc., their harmonization and storing, and their exposure towards the modules devoted to "on field" visualization, data processing and reporting.

The PathoCERT project has received co-funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 883484.
