Use Case

Gen AI for Automated Information Extraction and Compliance Verification of P&IDs

A Gen AI solution that automates P&ID data extraction and compliance checks, reducing errors and analysis time while improving efficiency and traceability in regulated industries.

Where: Italy
Mission
Companies operating in highly regulated sectors must keep their P&IDs constantly up to date to ensure safety and compliance. It is therefore essential to reduce manual reviews by supporting the reliable, traceable, and compliant creation and updating of these specific documents.
Solution
The solution is based on an advanced integration of technologies that combine custom AI algorithms, Operational Research, Vision LLMs, and specialized OCR. Thanks to this approach, the system can intelligently recognize, read, and interpret complex technical drawings in a contextualized way, enabling proper plant maintenance and improving overall operational efficiency.
Actions
The system automatically analyzes both existing and new P&ID diagrams, recognizing symbols, instruments, process lines, and measurement and control sections. The extracted information is structured and compared with standards and regulatory requirements, making it possible to identify when and how technical changes have occurred over time. This process supports maintenance, audit, and change management activities in a systematic and continuous manner.
Expected results

Greater accuracy and traceability with fewer errors

Faster updates with quick integration of new standards or requirements
