EBSI-VECTOR: EBSI enabled VErifiable Credentials & Trusted Organisations Registries

ABSTRACT
A new selfsovereign identity paradigm leveraging the current European Blockchain Service Infrastructrure (EBSI) capabilities in the educational and social security contexts.

Where: international
Challenge
Since 2018, the European Blockchain Partnership (EBP) has been building the EBSI, an initiative that aims to leverage the power of blockchain to support cross-border public services. The EBSI-VECTOR project is driven by business requirements and input from policy and business organisations operating in the education and social security contexts, which participate in the project.
Approach
Defining and executing the strategy for scaling up the EBSI capabilities and uptake in different countries with the many engaged educational and social security actors is an essential focus of the project. The participation of different European digital wallet providers guarantees the stimulation and uptake of the EBSI conformant wallet ecosystem and market.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem
The extensive work of the European Blockchain Partnership on EBSI led to a pre-production implementation under the Early Adopter program. EBSI-VECTOR builds on this work to start the implementation of the use cases in the education and social security fields. The project aims at transforming the digital interaction of citizens studying and working in Europe, simplifying and decentralizing some of the complex verification processes in order to establish an efficient, secure and reliable digital environment. Engineering coordinates the project and contributes in the activities of the social security use case. The project has received co-funding from the Digital Europe Programme No. 101102512
