Case Study

An advanced planning system for operational excellence

ABSTRACT

We supported our client, a leading luxury brand, in optimizing its production planning process through the implementation of an Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) system.

Where: international

Challenge
The client’s Italian plants represent the beating heart of its luxury goods production and were facing the complexity of production planning, made even more critical by the need to coordinate production capacity, delivery timelines, and available resources.
Approach

To address these challenges, a consulting and methodological approach was adopted, supported by our experts and based on the introduction of a finite-capacity production planning model.

The model enabled the integration of all involved functions from procurement to production into a single process, improving plan reliability, resource optimization, and alignment between demand, capacity, and operational objectives.

Solution
Digital Ecosystem

The project began with a joint analysis of the as-is scenario and the definition of the to-be solution, leading to the identification of the project scope and the most suitable technological solution, the APS ComplEtE® platform by DGS.

Implementation followed an agile approach, with periodic Sprint Reviews conducted together with the client. After the go-live, the system was further enhanced by extending both the scope and the production planning functionalities.

Results

Reliable plans aligned with demand and production capacity

Greater decision-making visibility on the impact of demand
