Challenge
Energywave is one of the leading players in the heat consumption allocation market for residential energy efficiency, with over 38,000 divisional points. The goal was to automate the calculation of heat allocation and billing through a flexible and effective solution, integrating it seamlessly into the existing application landscape.
Approach
Through the application of a specialized technical advisory methodology in the heat sector, it was possible to identify the types of billing previously managed outside the IT systems and subsequently migrate them to the new billing engine. This approach enabled a gradual adoption of the solution’s functionalities based on tariff modeling, initiating a process of standardizing billing and accounting procedures within an operational context not subject to revision (such as metering, credit management, and dunning processes).
Solution
The new billing solution followed a phased approach, starting with the identification of the contractual types to be managed and the migration of existing customers to SSE – the Energy Service System. Existing functionalities were enhanced following a gap analysis that highlighted previously unsupported calculation scenarios. The billable contract types included services for supply and plant management in District Heating, Heat Management, and Heat Allocation, using a package-driven approach and system integration activities to support planned evolutions. At the end of the implementation, we provided ongoing support for each heating season, configuring new contractual types (e.g., Superbonus 110%) while ensuring the quality standards defined by the business process standardization were maintained.
