MDM Water
Engineering’s SaaS Metering Data Management solution for measurement management in the water sector.
Within Engineering’s platform for Smart Energy & Utilities, Neta Open Suite, the solution manages large and small caliber meters of any model and communication technology.
The implementation of the new module is supported by:
Regulatory push towards technological evolution in the water sector, with the introduction of remote reading (Resolution 609/2021/R/idr and TIMSII update)
Investments planned under the PNRR Measure M2C4.4 Investment 4.2 (Reduction of losses in water distribution networks, including digitization and network monitoring)
Structural issues existing in the installed meter fleet in Italy, such as high aging, low accessibility, and low digitization.
MDM Water represents a single entry point through which to access measurement data from both business and residential users. It covers the reading management processes, from Acquisition to Diagnostic Validation, passing through Normalization, and supports asset management through specific Analysis and monitoring features with effective dashboards and reporting tools to support operations.
MDM Water is natively integrated with the Neta2A solution to ensure end-to-end coverage of Meter2Cash processes (Billing, Credit Management, CRM) and allows centralization of data acquisition from all SAC and walk-by/drive-by systems, providing a single tool to monitor meter readings and the status of meters and the network.
Centralizing readings in MDM Water creates a single source of truth easily integrable with any Engineering or third-party solution, enabling automation and new types of data analysis, with standard flows and formats that reduce the time needed for product evolution and customization projects.
The MDM Water solution:
Ensures the safeguarding of previous investments, inheriting the modularity and composability features of Neta Open Suite, and enabling a best-fit technological approach to the Meter-to-Cash process
Supports ecological transition through specific measurable KPIs consistent with the related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda, enabling companies to prepare their Sustainability Report.
Key strengths include:
Centralization of metering processes in a single platform, ensuring coverage of processes for both traditional meters and smart meters
Independence from meter manufacturers, managing multiple meter suppliers using different communication technologies
Capitalization of the application map, thanks to a single integration layer
Functional modularity, with progressive activation of solution features
Vertical scalability facilitating the typical multi-year progression of smart meter installation plans
What value does it bring to our customers?
Improved identification of water losses
Optimization of billing based on actual consumption, reducing disputes and delinquency
Reduction in management costs of the measurement reading cycle
No constraints on future device purchases
Protection of environmental resources
Constant monitoring of flow rates, pressures, and measurements of the water distribution network
Timely detection of leaks, illegal withdrawals, faults, fraud, and other issues.
