Orvieto: welcome to the heart-protected city

What to do in the event of a heart attack is now described in a computer application that allows the user to quickly call the emergency services on 118 and identify the nearest Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Realized thanks to Engineering's support, the App has been developed on the initiative of the association "Amici del Cuore", which has been putting into practice prevention strategies for cardiovascular diseases for over twenty years, involving institutions and citizens in the Umbria region of Italy and throughout the country.

The App allows the user to call the emergency number 118 and to see the nearest Automated External Defibrillators (AED) on a map. By selecting one, the best route to reach it is then shown with a list of layperson resuscitators nearest to the point where intervention is required.

By clicking on HELP ME, the layperson resuscitator can be contacted by text message or by telephone to warn him of the immediate need. The INFO section contains all the information about the Ideal Heart Protected Town, with a description of the logic behind the project and the application of it. The OTHER MATTERS section contains the list, in alphabetical order, using telephone book logic, of all the Italian town where the defibrillators have been registered and listed.
