The BEinCPPS project aims at integrating and experimenting a novel service platform in five selected S3 Vanguard regions (i.e., Lombardy, Norte, Basque Country, Baden-Wüttenberg, Rhône-Alpes).
The final objective is to improve the adoption of CPPSs all over Europe by means of the creation and nurturing of regional innovation ecosystems, made of competence centers, manufacturing enterprises and IT SMEs.
The BEinCPPS project builds on three pillars:
- A three-layered (machine-factory-cloud) federation of platforms, integrated from state-of-the-art R&I advances in the fields of Internet of Things, Future Internet and CPS / Smart Systems and capable of supporting the development of innovative applications via open APIs and to integrate existing legacy hardware and software systems via open standards.
- A pan-European SME-oriented experimentation ecosystem, which will start from the five selected Vanguard regions with competence centres linked to large manufacturers and will then be progressively expanded to a wider community of application developers and additional SME-driven experimentations.
- A well-founded method and toolbox for Innovation management, where an existing TRL-based methodology for KETs technology transfer will be enriched by a CPPS certification, education and training programme for young talents and experienced blue-collar workers and by a well-founded three-fold (objectives-variables-indicators) method for results assessment and evaluation.
As a system integrator, Engineering will leverage its experience on reference architecture definition and specification of systems. Engineering will also bring in the project the potential for the exploitation of results in several relevant sectors.
